Stayed here last night (Saturday October 13th 2024) for the Buckminster SAM35 Autumn Gala. Hosts were lovely, bedroom was huuuuuuuuge and comfortable! Didn't hear the A1 but I was knackered and slept like a baby! Breakfast this morning (Sunday 14th October 2024) was very lovely (full English with buffet), coffee and orange juice. Put me on for the rest of the day. We will be booking for next year's Galas as this place was lovely!

Stayed here recently Very friendly, hosts , couldn't fault them Great breakfast, really well cooked , and plenty! Rooms are a bit tired , but clean enough, very comfortable bed Talking of tired , it's a shame it's right next to the busy A1 , because sleep isn't something you'll get much of Having said that , if I travelled to the place I was at the weekend, I would stay again as it's not bad value for money !

Shocking stay, bathroom was not cleaned, limescsle on the shower screen, hairdryer was dusty, glass shelf was dirty, and the bath and toilet were not cleaned when I checked in. 1, room was nice and spacious with great character 2, Carol and Tom served me on both mornings breakfast, was a lovely breakfast 3, location was great, as I had a business meeting in Oakham, then exploring Rutland water not too far away. 4, slippers in the chest in the room, looked like they had been used by a few previous guests Cleaning is not great here! Great find! This is a great and comfortable bed and breakfast, not a 5 star hotel, run in their own home. Good size room, king size bed, chest of drawers, chair, dressing table, wardrobe, bedside drawers, mini fridge, good size tv and large en-suite bathroom. Decent size tv has freeview and various streaming apps, mini fridge has water, Diet Pepsi, larger and wine. Towels and bedding are not new but clean and functional. Yes there is noise from the A1 because you are right next to it. There is double glazing but some noise does get through in the background and does almost stop through the night. Breakfast was not too big or small, 3 x thick/normal bacon, nice sausage, egg, mushrooms, beans, tomato, toast and coffee. There is a buffet with cereal, fresh fruit, fruit juice, fruit salad with fresh strawberries and jams. The people who run the place are very friendly and welcoming. They are knowledgeable about the history of this 17c coaching house. Even Queen Victoria stopped here on her travels to and from Scotland, in room No.1 Lots of off road parking towards the back of the property. Plenty of local hostelries in the surrounding area to eat at and places to visit. Yes we would stay here again.

Honestly was not a bad nights stay. Slept comfortably all night and woke up to a nice cook breakfast. The gentleman who runs the place was polite and made me feel welcome.

Stayed at this B&B for one night to attend a 50th birthday party in the area . Had a very spacious room which had everything i needed . The owner was very accommodating & helpful as i needed transport to & from the venue . He helped organise that & offered to help me himself . It was a very comfortable bed & a nice homely place .

We had the room from the front door go up the stairs and turn right along the hallway.turn right again where there is a door.go thru this door and up some stairs. Turn right again last door on left. Carpets overlaid .bed under eaves.so difficult nay impossible to sit up in bed ,.problems gaining access to powerpoiints under eaves ,problems with ancient kettle on arrival which was changed. Set top aerial. Bed chewed at base.settee old We had a look at others which looked nice but this room was not good or comfotable. Otherwise breakfast was great and location was prefect. So go here but avoid being given this room.!!

Spoke to a very rude woman on arrival, who told me I should have been there earlier! Room was big, but not the best. Floor was dirty, especially in the bathroom. Bath and sink were full of hairs. Toilet was very dirty, disgusting. Won't be staying here again!

A fascinating former farmhouse steeped in history, mystery and intrigue, documented throughout the building. The proprietors are amongst the most helpful I have ever met. Best place to stay for anyone travelling on the A1, or in the Stamford / Grantham area. No chain hotel can offer anywhere near the same ambience.
